Nick Churton of Mayfair International Realty visits an amazing newly constructed home in New York and finds that it not only excites his senses but touches his soul.
Sometimes when I walk into a newly built home I have the curious notion that I have entered someone else’s brilliant imagination. It doesn’t happen every time. In fact it doesn’t happen as much as I would like. But when it does it is an excellent sensation.
When I walked into Bedford House I had that rare feeling. Here was a newly built home where the architect/builder had brought together his experience, know how and imagination and created a home of fine style, scope and timeless quality.
He could have produced a house that would work well enough and give a reasonable commercial return for his time, investment and creativity. But he didn’t. He did more. He poured his considerable talent into this remarkable building – or group of buildings. Not only does it show – it feels.
Here is a house, guesthouse and pool house sited together in a most elegant group, and linked by inspired landscaping within 8.3 acres of wooded grounds. The estate it is on is one of the most sought after in this part of New York, being only an hour from Manhattan and 20 minutes from Westchester Airport.
The architect/builder has done all he can. But a house needs to be lived in to really come alive. This one has all the bones. All it needs now is a fortunate and appreciative family to give it breath.
